It's International Early Years SENCO Day! 😊 Today we celebrate Early Years SENCOs for their invaluable impact in shaping inclusive education and providing children with the best start in life. Our SENCOs play a vital role in ensuring children with special educational needs receive the support they need to shine. They work closely with our families, professionals, and colleagues to identify needs early, implement tailored strategies and create inclusive learning environments. A huge thank you to all our SENCOs and Deputy SENCOs. Thank you for your hard work, dedication and commitment to ensuring every child feels included, supported, valued and able to shine. Our beautiful new room for children aged 2-3 years at Verwood! 😊 From infancy to the age of 5, the brain undergoes its most rapid development phase, forming up to 90% of its final structure in that time. We recognise the significance of establishing secure and nurturing learning environments that stimulate early brain development. This critical insight, supported by extensive research, has influenced our choices in planning and crafting our day nurseries. That’s the key reason why all our rooms are intentionally designed with a warm and tranquil atmosphere. Research has demonstrated that an excess of vibrant colours can be distracting and lead to overstimulation in children. By cultivating neutral spaces, we enable children to concentrate more deeply on their play and learning activities. At Happy Days, we are committed to operating nurseries that successfully prioritise the cognitive growth, fostering an environment conducive to their optimal development. We meticulously choose furniture from suppliers who view safety as their utmost concern through rigorous design processes. These Early Years suppliers are also selected based on their commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices. Our Early Years approach to furniture selection centres around promoting children’s physical development, fostering their independence, and ensuring physical comfort. At 2-3 years children are starting to understand the world around them while building relationships. Well defined activity and play areas to encourage exploratory experiences. Ever wonder why toddlers can play with water for hours? 🧐 It looks like simple splashing, but a 2–3 year old’s brain is working overtime! 🧠✨ Here is exactly what they are learning: 👉 Early Math & Science: When they transfer water between different sized cups, they are learning about capacity, volume, and gravity. Testing toys introduces "sink or float" physics! 👉 Fine Motor Strength: Squeezing sponges, pumping water sprays, and gripping small funnels build the precise muscles they will later need to hold a pencil or use a fork. 👉 Emotional Regulation: Water acts as a natural sensory reset. The repetitive motions of scooping and watching water pour have a therapeutic, calming effect on overstimulated toddlers. You don't need expensive toys. A plastic bin, some kitchen cups, a sponge, and a splash of water are all it takes to build a bathroom science lab. 🧪
