Top Tips for Healthy Smiles! 🦷🪥 Looking after children’s teeth from the very first tooth helps set them up for a lifetime of confident, healthy smiles. This simple brushing activity helps children explore why toothcare matters, practise the brushing motion and build positive routines through play, something practitioners can easily adapt, and parents can try at home too. Our toothcare top tips: 🪥 Brush twice a day from the first tooth, supporting children with brushing until at least age 7 💧 Spit, don’t rinse, leaving fluoride on the teeth helps protect them 🚫 Avoid sugary drinks like squash, fizzy pop, fruit juice and milkshakes, especially during weaning 🍬 Choose sugar-free medicines where possible 🍼 Introduce a free-flow cup from 6 months and aim to stop bottle use by age 1 💷 All under-18s are entitled to FREE NHS dental treatment in England 🤰 Dental care is also FREE during pregnancy and for one year after birth At nursery, activities like this support early health education, independence and confidence.
