A warm welcome to Lucy Farr our new Senior Early Years Manager at Happy Days Saltford ⭐ Lucy has joined us from another local setting and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, working within the Early Years Sector for over 20 years, including owning and managing her own nursery. Lucy is excited to get stuck in and meet all of the wonderful staff, children and parents at Saltford. Lucy will be offering show arounds and Stay & Play sessions to new families who would like to come and join the nursery. There will also be an opportunity for existing parents to come and meet Lucy, as we will be hosting her first Stay & Play on Friday 27th March from 9:30 am. Celebrations at Happy Days Derriford! 🥞🥢 We marked Pancake Day with a pancake inspired tuff trays for the children to explore and even set up a special pancake themed tuff tray in reception too. A lovely way to bring a bit of fun into the nursery for everyone. Explorers 2 also celebrated Chinese New Year by experiencing new tastes, including egg noodles, vegetable spring rolls and hoisin sauce, introducing different cultures through hands on, sensory experiences. 🌟 Appreciation Week at Falmouth 🌟 This week, we’ve been celebrating the incredible team who make our nursery such a special place. We invited parents to share kind words on our Appreciation Tree in the foyer, creating a beautiful display of messages for the team to read. In the staff room, our Appreciation Wall has been filled with post-it notes, as colleagues shared what they value most about one another and it’s been wonderful to see it grow each day. Over the past two weeks, we hosted three apprenticeship events as part of National Apprenticeship Week, bringing together over 100 apprentices to learn, share experiences, and build supportive networks.😊 With the support of Realise and our Learning & Development Lead Claire, apprentices explored Off-the-Job hours and participated in activities. As Ellie, Marketing Apprentice, said: “It was a great event that really brought apprentices together. Pancake Day at Happy Days Verwood! 🥞 The children had a fantastic time celebrating Pancake Day. They explored making their very own pancakes using playdough, rolling, flipping and adding their favourite pretend toppings through imaginative play. This time last week it was national pizza day! 🍕 The Let’s Cook Programme is part of the Healthy, Independent Explorer aspect of our curriculum. It helps to encourage children to take an active role in preparing dishes, introducing them to a wider variety of healthy foods. Along with discovering new flavors, preparing food helps to define gross motor skills. Happy Days Falmouth hosted a successful Open House on Saturday, celebrating National Storytelling Week by integrating the Where Children Shine curriculum with beloved children’s literature. Families participated in scheduled Boogie Mites, Sing and Sign, and Yoga sessions, while each room offered an immersive story experience. Highlights included exploring The Gruffalo’s woods in Explorers, “Let’s Cook” sandwich-making in Discoverers (The Tiger Who Came to Tea), and interactive traditional tales like The Three Little Pigs in Adventurers. A wonderful day of learning and community engagement!

🍕 National Pizza Day 🍕 To celebrate National Pizza Day, the children at Happy Days Salisbury enjoyed making their own pizzas, spreading the tomato sauce, choosing their toppings and getting hands on in the kitchen before enjoying their creations for tea. Cooking experiences like this help children build independence, develop fine motor skills and encourage confidence in trying new foods. It’s something you can easily recreate at home too, simple recipes, choice of ingredients and plenty of time to make cooking a lovely shared experience.
