Welcome to Happy Days Nursery Penair where a smiley friendly face will always greet you. We achieved outstanding in our Ofsted inspection in October 2009. This report can be viewed online at www.ofsted.gov.uk/reports.

Our Nursery is located at the top of St Clement Hill in the grounds of Penair Secondary school in Truro. The nursery is run by a team of qualified, highly experienced and dedicated staff who are passionate about providing the best quality childcare and education.

This 80 place nursery is divided into 2 areas which include the under 2’s rooms for children from 3 months to 2 years, the over 2’s rooms for children from 2 years until they go to school.

The under 2’s area is run by Sara and her team. The rooms are divided into comfy cosy spaces from which babies can feel safe to explore from, spaces for messy and creative play, a quiet space to relax and go to sleep in and a large area where young children can safely develop their gross motor skills. The rooms also have their own garden and a raised decking area which can be accessed directly by the children.

The over 2’s area is made up of 3 rooms. The Toddler room which is run by Emily and her team provides opportunities within all the 6 areas of learning to enable children to explore and develop their independence.

The Pre-school area continues supporting the children to develop and grow and prepares them for their next stage of going to school. The environment enables the children to access play and learning opportunities of their interest and choice. The staff of the pre-school led by Rhett, extend this learning through planned activities which are designed following detailed observations of each child.

Attached to these rooms are 2 garden areas which have been designed to provide children with a choice of activities as well as a vegetable garden where children can learn about where food comes from. At the back of the Nursery we have a large enclosed area of woodland which is only accessible from the Nursery which provides a natural environment for children to explore, play and learn in and where all ages can come together.

The nursery believes in being green and encourages the children, staff and families to recycle, reuse and reduce wherever possible. Penair has won two National awards for this work.

Children are provided with a healthy snack in the morning, hot freshly prepared meals at lunchtime and afternoon tea. We are a Healthy Early Years setting where special dietary requirements can be catered for.
