trelogganz.jpgTreloggan Nursery is a friendly 26 place nursery managed by myself, Jenny. I have been part of the current team with Debbie, Kirstie and Bethany for the past 5 years. We have a very professional, committed and strong team as we have all been working together for over 3 years.

We have fully implemented the EYFS – Early Years Foundation Stage throughout the nursery which provides a more holistic approach to planning, observations and assessments. This ensures that each child is supported through their developmental stages.

treloggan1.jpgDebbie is our ‘Baby Room’ (3months-2yrs) Supervisor and has worked at Treloggan for 9 years. She is supported by Kirstie the under 2's supervisor and between them they provide a ‘home from home’ environment with lots of
fun, sensory and exploratory opportunities as well as a separate outside play area that they are currently developing.
Our ‘Big Room’ (2yrs-5yrs) is supervised by Bethany who always has lots of fantastic activities planned. In our ‘Big Room’ we actively promote, independence, working as a team and respect for others and our environment. The children recycle paper and fruit peelings for our compost bin.

Topics and activities are planned in consultation with the children and parents.

We offer 15 hours of free grant funding a week to all 3 and 4 year olds. Snack and lunches are set out with tablecloths and flowers by the ‘helpers’ and children serve themselves and pour their own drinks which makes this a really special time.

Our last Ofsted reported, ‘All children are encouraged to practice independence in practical skills. This is particularly good at mealtimes. In both rooms we use Kernow Inclusive sign language to encourage and develop communication skills. We pride ourselves on being healthy and every week we have a vegetable box delivered from a local farm shop. We have a Menu Makers Club when the weekly menus are written in consultation with the children; this supports them in making healthy choices for themselves and their friends as well as laying the foundations for a healthy future.

Parents are involved in a fruit rota which enables us to provide fruit smoothies and juices. A favourite with the children is carrot, apple, pineapple and ginger. We have a fantastic outdoor area which also has a vegetable garden. We are very proud to have received joint first in this year’s ‘Newquay in Bloom’ Competition.
The children have been picking beans, beetroot, salad and much more for their meals over the summer. The garden offers endless learning opportunities and hours of fun too. We have also added a nature area this year and have recently been visited by a hedgehog!

We offer an open door policy to all parents and our partnerships with parents is one of our strongest qualities as we are committed to providing the very best for every child entrusted to our care.
