Happy Days Treliske opened in August 1999 originally as a 35 place nursery then in 2001 an extension was put on to the building which made it a 45 place nursery.  In December 2005 myself and Marie took over as joint managers I originally the nursery Deputy and Marie the Pre-school supervisor.  The nursery team between us have a wealth of experience and most have worked at Treliske for 5 years or more and all gel very well together, So much so that we won Happy Days team of the year in 2006 and 2007!

We have 4 rooms within the nursery.  The baby room takes 6 babies at a time we find this is a lovely number as they each are able to get individual attention and lots of reassurance and cuddles.  Rachel is the supervisor of the room and plans out her weekly activities so that the room flows smoothly and the babies have plenty to keep them occupied.  The room is well equipped with cots, fridge, and microwave so that there is no need for staff to leave the room and enables us to keep the standard high. 

The Tiddler room caters for 1 to 2 year olds, again catering for 6 children so the transition made from baby room to Tiddler room flows nicely and the children settle really quickly.  There is plenty of space for the children to play, as well as a carpeted area there are areas for eating and doing messy play.  Again we have a room supervisor who is permanently in the room so as to remain consistent for the children and a second nursery nurse who works along side the supervisor Terri.  Again planning is based on each child's interests and developmental stage.  Supervisors look at the child's interest sheets to plan the weekly learning opportunities for the children.  If an interest is changed they adapt the planning to the child's needs for that day.

The third room is our Toddler room this can take up to 12 children.  The age of the children are 2 to 3 years.  The planning of the day is done in the same way as the other rooms and activities differ on a day-to-day basis so the children have lots of fun and are kept well occupied. Jess is the room supervisor but also the nursery deputy; she works in the toddler room most of the time and supports the 0-3 supervisors in their planning. We offer a morning snack in each room and the children are encouraged to help to prepare it, handing out bowls and drinks to their friends.  This enables them to boost their confidence and give them a sense of achievement and to experience independence.  A healthy cooked lunch is prepared daily and an afternoon snack is offered also.  Drinks are available at all times for the children.

Our final room is the Pre-school room.  Within this room we have a full time qualified teacher who works with other nursery nurses.  We cater for 21 children aged from 3 to 5 years and offer free 3 and 4 year old grant funded sessions.  The Maths, Creative, IT and Writing tables are provided at all times, along with other floor activities and tabletop learning opportunities.  We hold six monthly parents evenings, this helps some very busy parents if they don't have the time to stop and catch up on a daily basis.

The children get the opportunity to play outdoors in our garden where they have plenty of play space and activities to keep them amused and happy.  All of the nursery children go outside morning and afternoon including the babies.  This is arranged at a different time to the younger ones so that there is plenty of space for the children.  Outside time is extremely important to our nursery and we often take indoor play out doors for the children to get the fresh air that they thrive from.

The new addition to our nursery is the Sensory room.  We have been developing this room over the last few months and is a place for all the children to come to at different times of the day in small groups to relax and experience something that they may not have seen before.  Relaxing music is played there are different coloured lights to look and feel and different treasure boxes to explore as well a comfy area to read books.

The Happy Days Treliske team believe that our nursery is special.  The staff have a wealth of experience and are always keeping themselves updated on the latest developments regarding childcare and regularly attend training sessions.  This reflects in the children as they settle into the nursery really quickly and are very happy and secure here.  We have a great rapport with the parents and this helps allay all worries about having to leave their children to go off to work.  We are always striving for the best and want to keep developing Treliske Happy Days so the care and standards of the nursery continue to be first class!!
