Welcome to Happy Days

Happy Days Nursery -
Truro City is based at: College Road, Truro, TR1 3XX.

We are an 80-place purpose built nursery, based in a prime location near to Truro College and the Royal Cornwall hospital. We have 4 separate rooms, a Baby room, Tiddler room (1-2yrs) a Toddler room and our Pre-School.
All rooms have access to an outside play area, one of which has an under cover area so it can be used during all weathers, We aim to have as much outside play as possible as we believe physical exercise and fresh air is an important part of a healthy life style, this also applies to our healthy eating policy. All children are provided with breakfast, mid morning snack, hot lunch with pudding and also a high-tea, all the food is prepared on the premises and we use fresh organic produce, wholegrain food and low salt and sugar products. A similar alternative will be offered if your child has any dietary requirements.
All our staff are qualified or working towards NVQ level 3 or higher, we have a full time qualified teacher who runs our pre-school and many of the staff have been with the company for a number of years. Regular training regarding early years is provided as well as first aid, food hygiene and health and safety.
We are governed by OFSTED, our last OFSTED inspection took place in April 2005 and we were graded a 'Good'. Please find our report in our reception or on the OfSTED web site.
Baby Room
Our baby room is a calm stimulating environment which is self contained with its own sleep, nappy changing and food preparation area.
We follow the Birth to Three Matters 'curriculum', which ensures that all children progress through their milestones, building on their confidence and interaction with others while having a fun time.
Tiddler Room
All the children in our Tiddler room have a fantastic time, whether they are finger painting, making a cup of tea in the role play area or looking though the magic bag with a member of staff. The Tiddlers also follow the Birth to Three Matters 'curriculum'. The activities are chosen by observing the children to find out what they like to do and where help may be needed e.g. I can feed myself, this would involve hand and eye co-ordination activities like pasta play with spoons and bowls.
Toddler Room
A stunning room stretching the width of the building with double-doors leading to an outside play area and large windows that provide beautiful views of our 'woodland area'. The children are able to access a variety of activities including physical play with soft play equipment, water and sand play trays, construction toys on the carpet, a creative art and craft area and a snugly, book corner. The children's interests and developmental stages are used as the focus for learning opportunities and activities provided in this room.
Pre-School Room
A bright, cheerful and stimulating environment with a wall of large windows providing stunning views of the 'woodland area' and outside play space which stretches the length of the building and envelopes the room. Two sets of double doors lead onto the large outdoor play space which includes an under covered area allowing the children access in all weathers. It also gives us the opportunity to provide free-flow play throughout the day between both the indoor and outdoor spaces. The Pre-school activities are planned using the Foundation Stage Curriculum and focus on children's developing steps leading towards the Early Learning Goals. These are delivered through fun and interesting topics. The classroom is a child-centred space providing areas for children to go to engage in different learning experiences throughout the day. These include areas devoted to: objects of interest, mark-making, mathematical skills, creative expression, role-play, construction, reading, rest and relaxation. We also have a computer on which the children can play a variety of activities and develop their mouse-control and problem-solving skills.
The Pre-school room also provides fun activities for before and after school clubs as well as out-of-term holiday periods. We have our own multi-seated vehicle in order to take children to and collect them from school and often, during the holiday periods, take groups of children on trips and fun days out.
My team and I thoroughly enjoy working in our nursery and believe this makes a happy environment for the children to learn in. Come and look around and witness the wonderful atmosphere, we look forward to welcoming you.
