Happy Days Newquay is situated in the grounds of Tretherras School in Trevenson Road, Newquay. There is ample parking in front of the building and an accessible ramped entrance.
The Nursery is one of Happy Days Nurseries provisions across the South West of England.
Newquay Happy Days was established nineteen years ago and is the original nursery from which the Directors Sarah and Robin Karkeek started the plan to provide high quality nursery provision across Cornwall and Devon.
The nursery is led by myself Becky Capewell, who has worked for Happy Days for several years.
The nursery has dedicated areas for each age group, which are well resourced and planned to meet the individual requirements for each child.
The Under 2's Room has a no shoes policy. This is to ensure our Under 2's have a clean, hygienic environment. We provide our babies with a separate Cot Room, which offers a restful, snug & temperature controlled environment. The Under 2's Room provides a real home from home environment which cares for children three months to two years of age. We have zoned the environment into carefully planned areas for play, rest and meal times. Planned activities meet the individual preferences of each child and helps them onto the next stage of development. Sensory based activities and building positive relationships is a strong emphasis in the room.
The Over 2's Room is led by Claire & Amy, who both have many years experience of working with children. Claire & Amy are a highly skilled team, who are totally committed to providing a rich curriculum and high standard of care to the children aged three to five years.
The Over 2's area is made up of 3 rooms. The messy room, which enables children to have free choice of a variety of messy activities from sand play to painting; The Role Play Room and The Main Room in which all opportunities within the six areas of learning enable children to explore and develop their independence.
A vast array of activities are available each day and are planned through the EYFS framework for the three to five age group. Each curriculum is child centered and relies on the key person's observations and assessments to produce activities that are interesting, challenging and developmentally appropriate for each individual child.
The nursery team recognise that children deserve a balanced curriculum and with this in mind provide a varied timetable of extracurricular activities which include exercise class, baby sign, dance class as well as zoo, beach, church, dentist and aquarium trips for all age groups.
The highly qualified, established and experienced team of Early Years workers care for the children using the 'Keyperson' approach to childcare. The Keyperson approach values the need for small children and their families to build good relationships with the caregiver in order for children to be confident and self-assured.
Children are able to take part in free settling in sessions prior to their start date whereby parents and child are able to become familiar with the nursery and the keyperson, share information about favourite activities, food preferences, sleep times etc. The keyperson will look after the child each day and liaise with parents about daily routines and information pertinent to that day.
Excellent links with local school have made trips to visit 'Big School' a useful tool during the transition stage between nursery/home and school.
The team have through consultation with the parents, produced a four week rolling menu based on family meals, all meals are balanced and prepared using unprocessed foods.
There is a strong ethos that giving children choice, experience, responsibility and good quality care ensure that this nursery is full of well mannered, caring, enquiring, responsible children who have a zest for life.
There are free sessions available at this nursery for three and four year olds for fifteen hours per week grant funding.
